Full Job Description

This position will be responsible for managing multi-year corporate partnerships for the WNBA and supporting the MP&M Activation team on assigned WNBA events and programs. The role will manage all aspects of the partner management process from on-boarding, relationship building and management, benefit fulfillment, recapping, upsells, and renewals, while also managing partner benefit fulfillment for WNBA events such as Tip-Off, All-Star Voting & All-Star, Commissioner’s Cup, Playoffs/Finals.

The person in this role will serve as a subject matter expert on the WNBA, WNBA Marketing Partners, and how best to maximize partner activation across all WNBA Marketing Partners. There will be a focus on working across the organization to ensure input from key constituents while helping drive the creation, implementation, strategic management and profitability of partner promotional programs and initiatives.

Responsibilites:

  • Create and present customized presentations and sales, upsell, and/or renewal materials based on specific partner goals and objectives
  • Independently manage day-to-day partner activation process including activation planning, promotional development, media planning, advertising creation and approval, hospitality, event coordination and recapping
  • Support in renewal efforts for WNBA partnerships and multi-league partnerships that include the WNBA where needed
  • Support MP&M WNBA Lead in liaising between GP&M, WNBA, Finance, Communications, and other departments that work closely on partner marketing & media partnership matters
  • Lead necessary information gathering and communications in areas such as up-to-date partnership lists and sponsored programs and platforms, WNBA marketing partner financials, benefit commitments, etc.
  • Collaborate with full sales and account teams on WNBA-specific deals
  • Manage budgets and expenses for marketing partners, including fluency in financial reporting
  • Identify and pursue additional revenue/upsell opportunities
  • Prepare creative review submissions and become fluent in WNBA IP guidelines and processes
  • Develop strong relationships with internal constituents and external partners and agencies
  • Provide partnership expertise in the comprehension of contractual elements, understanding of both WNBA’s and partners’ business goals/target audiences/marketing strategy and knowledge of best practices and industry news
  • Proactively seek input from across organization to develop integrated and successful sponsorship activation ideas for potential and existing partners
  • Manage execution of WNBA properties and programs, with a focus on partner activation:
    • Day-to-day contact with all NBA internal departments on properties
    • Serve as key liaison with events
    • Work closely with account teams on partner objectives and their alignment with program objectives
    • Oversee development and production of creative elements and traffic approvals for program materials
    • Compile and provide internal updates on program development and execution
    • Keep records and recommendations for internal and external purposes
    • Communicate key issues internally via status reports and meeting updates
    • Manage budgets
  • Drive revenue growth through the creation of new sellable marketing programs, identification of sales targets and development of sales strategies
  • Overall inventory management

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to develop and write thoughtful, customized corporate presentations, partnership proposals, and email communications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with key internal & external stakeholders
  • Understanding of marketing and branding to develop partner activation ideas that achieve both league and partner objectives
  • Knowledge and desire to work in an events/activation capacity for designated events
  • Strong understanding of all facets of sponsorship activation including events, media, marketing rights, content, etc.

Experience Needed:

Overall Purpose: This multi-faceted position is accountable for the marketing and graphics needs of the New Orleans Pelicans’ new G League team. This includesexecuting a range of marketing tactics; updating the team’s social media platforms and website; holding fan and ticketholder events; and building graphics for marketing and the game experience. This position works closely with the business operations group as well as Pelicans stakeholders to achieve the team’s business and brand goals. It requires creativity, advanced project management skills, excellent communication and comfort working in a fast paced environment.

This is a full-time position reporting to the General Manager, Business Operations and is based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy email campaigns that drive sales and deepen fan engagement.
  • Create engaging content for the team’s social media platforms and website.
  • Place media buys for advertising campaigns (emphasis on social and digital advertising).
  • Help execute special events for our fans and ticketholders.
  • Ensure partnership marketing plans are properly executed.
  • Develop and execute game day promotions and giveaways.
  • Leverage brand guidelines to create graphics for marketing as well as the in-game experience.
  • Liaise with the Pelicans’ marketing and digital teams; consult them on key decisions and leverage their knowledge and resources.
  • Ensure league-wide marketing initiatives are properly supported by the team.
  • Attend all home games and special events.
  • Assist with special projects for General Manager and front office staff as needed.

Criteria/Qualifications: The Manager, Marketing and Promotions will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in marketing, advertising or communication.
  • Track record of strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver (or basic HMTL understanding). Must be able to provide samples of design work.
  • Proficiency with email marketing. Experience with Marketo is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling abilities. Must be able to provide writing samples.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
