Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with security teams across Cloud + AI to ensure teams are equipped to put “first things first” when working toward meeting Microsoft’s security “high bar”
  • Work with C&AI security drivers to surface alignment issues or course corrections, and work through them
  • Collaborate with team in building models and methods that surface insights to engineering teams and Microsoft senior leadership clearly and concisely.
  • Drive impact and change through dovetailing into existing workflows and enterprise customer programs
  • Develop “best-in-class” structure and Rhythm of Business for the team to succeed, ensuring the goals short and long term are well-defined and realistic.
  • Gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses and collaborate with mentors and leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users.
  • Stay educated on existing, emerging technologies and do POCs to evaluate technology fits for customer needs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 10+ years of experience in a technical security-related field
  • 5+ years of program management in a technology role

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of cloud cybersecurity experience
  • Demonstrated success leading an information security engineering or operations for a large enterprise.
  • Working understanding operating in an Agile team
  • Experience with direct, remote and virtual teams
  • Relevant experience in software design and coding.
  • Drive for complete results that reflect the goal
  • Translate problem solving techniques into measurable functional design
  • Excellent judgment, decision making skills, and ability to work with deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to senior leadership teams
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming/script languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell

We are looking for a Principal Program Manager who is passionate about the intersection of customers, data, and new business opportunities. We have a high-impact role to help lead a Microsoft strategic project to align data collection, use, management, and governance to build customer trust, protect customer privacy by design, and responsibly collect and use data.

In a world of ever-increasing regulatory scrutiny, you will help define and usher in the next generation of aligned, compliant data collection and use. Starting with Experiences + Devices (E+D) – which includes Windows, Office, M365 Services, Edge, and many more products and services – and expanding across Microsoft, this project has the potential to impact every product and service which collects and uses customer data.

You will be joining the W+D Connected Services and Experiences (CSX) Data team which is a high-performing team that has the mission to raise Microsoft customer and ecosystem success by providing trusted data science, engineering expertise, and systems at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive alignment of top cross-E+D opportunities areas such as common data taxonomy; separation of user, functional, and diagnostic data; common schema; and more.
  • Drive research and (internal) partner engagement across Microsoft to identify new customer and business value leveraging collected data; and use your findings to drive requirements back to the core project.
  • Manage project communications with internal partner teams and stakeholders, and with corporate communications and public relations.
  • Focus on commercial, enterprise, and IT Administrator opportunities and experiences related to managed consent, control, and governance.
  • Work with Privacy Program Owners (PPOs) to sync investments in privacy related operational systems
  • Develop inter-divisional partnerships to drive alignment of core project elements (consent, governance, data sharing)

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Program / Product management experience designing and shipping customer-facing products and services

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong customer empathy and passion for building trust relationships with customers
  • Proven ability to build successful partnerships and drive complex cross-group collaboration
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; including experience with presentations to senior leadership teams
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills
  • Knowledge of privacy-related regulatory environment is preferred

Roles 

Security, Compliance, Identity and Management Communications:  

  • Senior Communications Manager: Lead Windows/Exchange Commercial communications, including managing proactive and reactive disclosures, cross-team storytelling, and speaker engagements.  
  • Communications Manager: As a data-driven storyteller, you will focus on extracting key trends from our data signals and building a creative content engine inclusive of contributed articles, content backgrounders for media, narratives, and more.  

Microsoft Teams Communications: 

  • Communications Manager: Support the Future of Work/Hybrid Work campaign, including the Work Trend Index reports.  
  • Senior Communications Manager: Lead proactive storytelling efforts that generate awareness and affinity for Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Viva. You will partner with customers to highlight the innovative ways they are using technology to drive business success, highlight product features that can improve the way people work, and help increase impact for Teams and Viva through Microsoft’s owned and social communications channels.  
  • Communications Manager: Lead proactive disclosures and reactive communications for Microsoft Teams across developer and platform, industry-specific and frontline worker capabilities, and integrations between Teams and first-party services such as Dynamics 365, Microsoft Mesh and Windows.  

Windows, Devices Communications:  

  • Communications Manager: Manage the cadence of disclosures/builds and Windows updates, manage the quality narrative with tech press and partner with OEM and Silicon partners to land positive reviews for Windows. 
  • Communications Manager: Lead proactive and news-driven storytelling efforts for Education, M365 and Teams Consumer, Family Safety and Consumer Security offerings; storytelling lead for campaign focused on Parents. 
  • Communications Manager: Lead proactive and news-driven storytelling efforts for Edge, Bing, Microsoft Advertising, Content Services; drive thought leadership narrative re: future of the web and new creator economy. 
  • Communications Manager: Lead communications for Surface commercial, PC accessories, and Surface campaigns.  

Gaming Communications:  

  • Communications Manager: Drive storytelling around the amazing line-up of Xbox and PC games within Xbox Game Studios.  
  • Senior Communications Manager: Lead Consumer PR efforts to drive awareness of Xbox and deepen our storytelling efforts with the goal of reaching new players around the world.  
  • Communications Manager: Create and execute strategic PR campaigns to help broaden the ways players engage with Minecraft beyond the video game itself, from toys, to apparel, to board games, to books, and a major motion picture on the way.   
  • Communications Manager: Manage engagement programs and relationships with Content Creators to drive coverage and advocacy of Xbox products, services, and partnerships, with an emphasis on non-core creators.  
  • Communications Manager: Create campaigns and manage relationships with creators that help us tap into new pools of influence and get smarter about new ways to reach GenZ audiences. 

Customer Communications:  

  • Communications Manager: Build compelling stories together with our top commercial customers and implement global PR plans, strategies, and programs. You will also cultivate a pipeline and manage an editorial calendar of customer stories to fuel our owned channels.   

Analyst Relations:  

  • Analyst Relations Manager: Manage Azure analyst relations including Azure Pro Integration, Data Integration, Communications Services, and Azure AR breadth programs. 
  • Analyst Relations Manager: Manage Industry Clouds analyst relations including depth and breadth programs for the Retail and Manufacturing verticals. 
  • Analyst Relations Manager: Manage Business Applications analyst relations including Sales Force Automation, Marketing Automation, Customer Data Platforms, and Voice of Customer technologies.     

Required Qualifications  

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Exceptional communications skills. 
  • Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-changing environment. 
  • Understanding of evolving communications trends. 
  • 2+ years of experience in Communications or Marketing.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and across organizational boundaries.  
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple business partners, including cross-group teams, virtual and global teams, vendors, and agency partners.    
  • Proven track record for new, innovative approaches and smart risk taking.
