The Opportunity

This role is open remotely to East and Central Coast Candidates

The Staff Accountant will support the on-going reporting needs within the Finance department and assist the Manager – Corporate Accounting with the responsibilities outlined below. =

What someone will need to be successful in this role

  • 2-4 years as an accountant
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, principles, and practices
  • Fund/Real Estate Partnership Accounting and Tax experience is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central desirable
  • Demonstrated history working as a Public Accountant or CPA

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly corporate financial and quarterly fund financial statements
  • Record daily cash activity via journal entries and update daily cash reconciliation tracker from all bank accounts
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare entries to be posted to the GL
  • Perform GL account reconciliations and follow up on any discrepancies as needed
  • Ensure files for each deal and fund closing are saved, downloaded, and updated.
  • Provide month-end close support for the corporate entity Assist in the review of partnership audits and tax returns for the various funds
  • Assist with corporate and fund audit requests
  • Support Senior Accountant and Fund Manager on fund related accounting and analysis work
  • Support Senior Business Analyst with corporate financial planning and analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

The Opportunity

The Director, Acquisitions, will originate, structure, and negotiate tax credit investments that are consistent with Berkadia Affordable Tax Credit Solutions’ objectives and investor demand. This person will identify potential complex LIHTC issues and negotiate business terms with clients..

  • Working as a team, identify developers with prospective LIHTC transactions, targeting specifically where investor needs are located nationwide, and originate new business product.
  • Work closely with Acquisitions, Underwriting, Investor Relations, Asset Management, Fund Management, Accounting, and senior leadership in successfully acquiring new LIHTC transactions.
  • Have and maintain a high level of proficiency in utilizing the Berkadia Affordable Housing tax credit model.
  • Have and maintain a high level of understanding of the Berkadia Affordable Housing Policies and Procedures, underwriting policies, industry standards, and LIHTC investor needs.
  • Have and maintain knowledge of complex real estate underwriting, tax and LIHTC requirements.
  • Promote the Berkadia Affordable Tax Credit Solutions brand through online and in person efforts by attending and speaking on panels at industry conferences (national, regional, and state) and other networking events throughout the year.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with tax credit developers, investors, lenders, attorneys, accountants, and consultants through frequent communication and in person meetings.
  • This position requires travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Administrative Assistant will provide general administrative support for the local office employees and producers. Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. The Administrative Assistant will have the capability to write routine reports and correspondence, respond to common inquiries or requests from clients and colleagues. Candidate must be able to effectively present information to an internal department and/or groups of employees. This position is full-time, in our brand-new Bellevue office. 

  • Provide administrative support for local office including telephone/email communications, scheduling, processing incoming and outgoing mail, ordering office supplies, office equipment maintenance and operation, inventory control and file creation and maintenance – both electronic and hard copy; 
  • Provide receptionist duties, including answering phones, greeting visitors, and accepting deliveries; 
  • Maintain small office kitchen and stock bottled water;  
  • Coordinates onsite meetings/conference/assists with events 
  • Order and keep an inventory of parking coupons   
  • Serve as the Office Building Communications Liaison with property management/Berkadia facilities team 
  • Maintain and update contact database and calendars; 
  • Prepare correspondence as requested; 
  • Complete expense reports for office staff;  
  • Assist with entering contact/property information into database (Salesforce); 
  • Tracks, collates, and maintains inventory of marketing materials; 
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, internet research and web publishing skills. Ability to manipulate basic templates in Power Point and/or InDesign preferred. Strong marketing knowledge needed. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by business. 

 What you will need to be successful in this role

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in an administrative capacity; 
  • Excellent computer skills, including mastery of Word, Excel and Outlook; 
  • Experience in real estate and/or Salesforce a plus; 
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines in a team environment;  
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized; 
  • Possess a strong attention to detail; 
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Financial Analyst will become an expert on market elements that impact Multifamily Commercial Real Estate and perform in-depth financial analysis to evaluate Multifamily Commercial Real Estate assets. The Financial Analyst will assist an Investments Sales team with financial analysis and preparing market data to be utilized in various client-facing documents and presentations. This position is best suited for candidates with long-term aspirations to grow with Berkadia and are results-driven, passionate about perfection, and excited about getting involved in a rapidly growing company at the ground floor. The role will have a strong focus on quantitative analysis and financial modeling matched with practical business application.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial underwriting models for commercial real estate development, acquisition and disposition.
  • Breakdown and analyze P&L statements and rent rolls.
  • Utilize and maintain databases that track investment sales activity, construction pipeline, and other relevant real estate metrics.
  • May occasionally present and support analyses to clients.
  • Review industry surveys and benchmarks, economic and demographic trends.
  • Actively assist in the research, writing, and proofing of market intelligence for marketing materials.
  • Assist with preparing and presenting the results of the analysis, including graphics and charts, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the team to understand and identify their needs for market intelligence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Exceptionally strong Excel modeling skills, with experience with VBA and complex formulas.
  • Experience with data analytics such as demographics, competitors, industry and real estate trends, etc.
  • Organized and highly detail-oriented; accustomed to allocating time to double-check work.
  • Ability to think commercially about the needs and requirements of different client groups, including investment management firms, brokers, and lenders.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team are a must.
  • Ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex ideas in writing and through data visualization techniques to diverse audiences.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
